Suzanne Phillips, age 75, of Dixon Springs, passed peacefully into eternal rest at 4:53 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2019 at her Cato Road farm home with her husband and daughter at her bedside. She was being lovingly cared for by her family and Aseracare Hospice of Nashville.

Funeral services were conducted Friday, March 1 from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home with Sam Willcut officiating. Burial followed in the Phillips family lot in the West Section of the Dixon Springs Cemetery beside her father-in-law, Isham Phillips, and mother-in-law, Lucy Wilburn Phillips.

The only child of the late James Lane Gann Jr. and Margaret Reese Gann, she was born Margaret Suzanne Gann in Nashville on December 9, 1943.

Following the death of her mother at the age of 37 in 1952, her father was married to the former Lucille (Lucy) Fox who died at the age of 76 on Jan. 7, 1987.

On June 23, 1967, Suzanne was united in marriage to Dixon Springs Community native Thomas Noel Phillips at the home of her parents in Joelton.

Mrs. Phillips was a 1962 graduate of David Lipscomb High School in Nashville and graduated in 1967 from the U.T. School of Medicine in Memphis with a Bachelor Degree in Medical Technology and began what would be a 43-year career with Baptist Hospital in Nashville.

In 2010 she retired from Baptist, now St. Thomas Mid-Town Hospital, with the position of Laboratory Director.

Mrs. Phillips was a member of the Crieve Hall Church of Christ in Nashville and after she and her husband retired and returned to Dixon Springs they attended the Dixon Springs Church of Christ.

Surviving in addition to her husband of almost 52 years are their two children, Noelle Phillips (Jay Potts) of Denver, CO, Curt (Catherine) Phillips of Marietta, GA; two grandsons, David and Robert Phillips.

The Phillips family requests memorials be made to the Smith County Animal Rescue Organization.
