George D. Givens

A funeral service for George D. Givens will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday at Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home, with Josh Cornelius and Victor Blackwood officiating, followed by interment with military honors at Greenvale Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Sunday from noon until 2 p.m. at Ligon & Bobo prior to the service.

Mr. Givens, 92, of Lebanon, passed away on Nov. 16, 2023.

Born in Greenvale, he is the son of the late Jessie Franklin Givens and Jodella Hudson Givens.

He graduated from Watertown High School and served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.

He managed Neely Coble Company Body Shop for 25 years.

He was an active member of the Greenvale community, attending Greenvale Baptist Church and serving as a life-long trustee for the Greenvale Cemetery.

He had a passion for agriculture, spending time raising Simmental cattle and growing a family garden.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: his wife of 50 years, Ina Ruth Wilson Givens; his wife of 10 years, Billie Givens; his son, William David Givens; daughter, Joyce Marie Jones; a brother, Thomas Hudson Givens; and granddaughter, Sarah Morgan Jones.

He is survived by: his wife of 12 years, Mary Ruth Rogers Givens; three grandchildren, Kathryn Givens Rose, Jared Maxwell (Katie) Givens, Ashley Jones; two great-grandchildren, Addilyn Grace, Grady Maxwell Givens; and sister, Frankie (Jimmy) Floyd.

Honorary pallbearers are Victor Blackwood and Lannie Correll.

Active pallbearers are Brian Tuggle, Terry McPeak, Jimmy Floyd, Tony Patton, Bob Wilson and Louis Barrett.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Greenvale Cemetery, care of Hooper Penuel, 6421 Craddock Lane, Lascassas, Tennessee, 37085.

Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home of Lebanon was entrusted with the arrangements.
