Harold Gene Cothron

Harold Gene Cothron, 88, of Hartsville, passed away on Nov. 1, 2023, at his home.

Harold Gene was born on June 22, 1935, in Macon County to the late Elisha Clay and Susan Vance Cothron.

He was a member of Hartsville Missionary Baptist Church and married Barbara June Shoulders on Aug. 12, 1958.

He worked many years in the garment industry as plant manager at the Carthage and Hartsville factories. After retirement, he worked part time at Anthony Funeral Home, greeting everyone as they came in.

In addition to this parents, he was preceded in death by: his wife, June Shoulders Cothron; two sisters, Ruth Sloan, Lassie Key; three brothers, Fred Cothron, Howard Cothron, Carl Cothron; and great-grandchild, James Milton Wilburn.

He is survived by: his son, Dwight (Wendy) Cothron of Hartsville; three daughters, Stephney (Arthur) Anderson of Bethpage, Kathy (Jimmy) Wilburn of Carthage, Amy (Mike) Cocoran of Oak Ridge; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Donnie (Maureen) Cothron of Lafayette.

Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Anthony Funeral Home at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, conducted by Jeff Blackwell and grandson Jim Wilburn. Interment will be in Hartsville Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday and from 11 a.m. until service time on Tuesday.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
